The NHS in Suffolk and north east Essex is urging people to be aware and prepared for upcoming strike action.
Junior doctors will be striking between 7.00 a.m. on Saturday February 24 to midnight on Wednesday February 28.
Dr Andrew Kelso, medical director, NHS Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care Board, said: “We urge people to do all they can to help during what is bound to be a busy and challenging time.
“No-one should put off seeking help when they need it, and the hospitals’ emergency (A&E) departments will remain open throughout. It is vitally important though that only those people with the most serious, life-threatening conditions go there.
“If it is not an emergency then please use the other options available to you.
“If you are not sure what to do or where to go visit NHS 111 Online or call NHS 111 to get the right help and advice. By calling NHS 111 and choosing the mental health option you’ll be able to access mental health crisis support 24/7.
“Your local pharmacy is a great source of help and advice, with no appointment needed to speak to the pharmacist. Ask at your pharmacy too on what would be the best medicine cabinet essentials to keep at home so you are best able to deal with minor illness and injury.
“Your GP practice will remain open its usual hours during the strike action.
“If you have an appointment please attend as normal. There is no need to call to check if your appointment is still going ahead. You will be contacted directly if your appointment needs to be rearranged.”
