A team from the new North East Essex Health and Wellbeing Alliance is tackling the 2024 Yorkshire Three Peaks Public Sector Challenge to build their team working skills whilst raising money for Cancer Research UK.

The seven strong team, who all work for partner organisations within the Alliance including Colchester City Council, Tendring District Council and the NHS, will tackle the three biggest peaks in Yorkshire – Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, all in the space of 12 hours.

Michelle Tarbun, Head of Health Partnerships and Wellbeing at Colchester City Council, said: ”We all work for different organisations and have come together as partners as the North East Essex Health and Wellbeing Alliance. We wanted to do something to develop as a leadership team whilst raising money for a great cause and the three peaks challenge is the ideal way to do that.”

The team have been training hard for this challenge individually and also came together for an 11-mile trail walk but they know that climbing the three peaks will be a lot harder and they are against the clock too.

Michelle adds: “We hope all of our training will pay off when we tackle the challenge. We are really pleased that we have already managed to raise over £1000 but we would love to raise more for such a great charity and have some fun.”

The North East Essex Health and Wellbeing Alliance is a collaboration of partners from health, the public sector and voluntary organisations working together to transform the health and wellbeing of people living in north east Essex.

The team take on the challenge on Friday 6 September.  You can sponsor them online.
