Colchester Medical Practice to open new health and wellbeing hub.

Colchester Medical Practice (CMP) is opening a new health and wellbeing hub to the north of the city to provide new services to its patients.

The new building will house new and specialised services including physiotherapy, adult and children’s mental health care and counselling, care coordination, social prescribing, cancer support, prescription drug dependency services and health & wellbeing coaching.

There are also plans to locate more services in the building in future, which will allow the practice to recruit more GPs and practice nurses to cope with growing patient numbers.

The hub will offer direct pre-booked appointments to patients from all four of the practice’s existing surgeries and expand the service outside of traditional core GP hours.

It is due to be officially opened at 2pm this Friday (July 15) in a ceremony attended by representatives of the practice and local health officials.

Colchester Medical Practice is a large practice and primary care network covering most of Colchester.

The practice currently operates across four sites – Castle Gardens Medical Centre, Shrub End Surgery, Wimpole Road Surgery and Parsons Heath Medical Practice.

It provides primary care services for around 38,800 patients across Colchester.
