Georgia Chimbani is the Director of Adult and Community Services for Suffolk County Council and has been working within the Integrated Care System since January 2021.
Georgia is a registered Social Worker and throughout her career, spanning over 25 years in social care organisations, she has been a strong advocate for practitioner led research and practice to deliver positive outcomes for people and communities. She is passionate about the promotion of equality, non-discriminatory practice, and empowerment of communities.
From 2018 to 2022 Georgia was the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services [ADASS] lead for dementia and through this role was worked with the DHSC and other stakeholders to set the national strategic direction for dementia through the Dementia Programme Board. She has been instrumental in setting up and co-chairs the Dementia Action Partnership in Suffolk, a partnership of statutory and third sector organisations working to make Suffolk a dementia friendly county.
Georgia is lead for the ADASS International Network and sits on the board and council of the European Social Network, an organisation representing 175 members in 34 European countries and working to advance the exchange of knowledge in public services in partnership. She also sits on the board of Social Care Institute of Excellence, an organisation that seeks to improve the lives of people through the promotion and sharing of evidence based knowledge and practice in relation to social care and social work.
