Give your views on Boxford proposal by this Sunday

Local people have until this Sunday (October 27) to give their views on a proposal to consolidate services currently provided at Boxford branch surgery to the modern facility at Hadleigh.

Partners at Hadeligh Boxford Practice Group say if the plan went ahead it would help ensure a more streamlined service for patients and better access to a range of services from the fit-for-purpose healthcare facilities in Hadleigh.

Over the past six weeks people have been sharing their thoughts on the proposal and how it would impact them by completing a feedback form in the surgery, at a public meeting held earlier this month and online via the surgery website.- Hadleigh Boxford Group Practice (hadleighhealth.co.uk)

348 pieces of feedback have been received so far.

The partners add that the building at Boxford needs significant investment to meet the standard of a modern and safe GP practice building. They add over the years the number of appointments offered at the Boxford branch surgery has decreased with the majority of clinics and services being provided from Hadleigh surgery.

Currently Boxford offers a limited service with four basic GP sessions and two blood clinics each week.  Implementing the plan would mean that there would no longer be GP consultations and blood tests from Boxford and the surgery building will cease as a venue for healthcare services.

Dr Iain Lyons from the practice, said: “I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to share their thoughts with us, and we very much appreciate it.

“What people tell us is important in helping us reaching the most appropriate decision that will ensure safe, quality primary care services for the future.”

A final decision on the plan is expected in early 2025.
