Views sought on GP practice’s plans concerning Boxford surgery

More than 2,000 patients across Boxford will be asked for their views on a proposal to consolidate services currently provided at Boxford branch surgery to the modern facility at Hadleigh to ensure better access to clinicians, more appointments and allow services to be provided from fit-for-purpose healthcare facilities.

The Hadleigh Boxford Group Practice is about to start a six-week engagement exercise – starting on Monday 16 September – to understand what impact the plan would have on people in the village.

Practice partners say the building at Boxford needs significant investment to meet the standard of a modern and safe GP practice building.

They add over the years the number of appointments offered at the Boxford branch surgery has decreased with the majority of clinics and services being provided from Hadleigh surgery.

Dr Iain Lyons, Partner at Hadleigh Boxford Group Practice, said: “We currently offer a limited service at Boxford with four basic GP sessions and two blood clinics each week.

“Our plan will mean that we will no longer offer GP consultations and blood tests from Boxford and the surgery building will cease as a venue for healthcare services.

“As a result, our patients will benefit from having access to a range of services provided within one building at our recently renovated Hadleigh surgery.

“Such services include a dispensary and specialist clinics and as more clinicians are available there, we would be able to offer patients a greater choice of appointments.

“We really do want to understand what impact this plan would have on local people so are inviting our patients to tell us so we can consider this carefully.”

Further information, including a question and answer section and a ‘comments and suggestions’ form are available from the Hadleigh Boxford Group Practice reception and online via the surgery website at Hadleigh Boxford Group Practice (hadleighhealth.co.uk)

Local people will also be able to discuss their views with representatives from the practice on Tuesday 1 October 2024 between 10am – 12.00pm at Boxford Village Hall.

Closing date for feedback is Sunday 27 October 2024.
